Bookplate inserted; inscribed by the author on front endpaper in blue ink: “May 28, 1959. To – Robert Menzies – Thanks for the fun on page 303 of “Playing for Life” and the many happy occasions of being with you in your great country. Bill Talbert”. Note, reference made in text to Menzies on p. 303: “I turned my attention to the after-dinner festivities. The Prime Minister of Australia, Robert G. Menzies, was introducing me with his usual friendly banter. The year before, in a reference to my close-to-the-skull haircut, he had presented me as “that Trappist monk in white flannels.” This time, adding a dig at my Wall Street activities, he described me as a “billiard ball plastered down with banknotes.””
