Fundraising and Partnerships Manager

The Opportunity:

The Fundraising Manager will design and execute a sophisticated development strategy to grow major gifts, corporate partnerships and annual giving. This is a strategic, externally focused role suited to a relationship-driven professional who understands major donor cultivation and enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders.

The successful candidate will work directly with the CEO, Board Directors and high-net-worth supporters to expand RMI’s philanthropic base and secure transformational gifts.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Revenue Growth
  • Develop and implement a 3–5 year fundraising strategy aligned with RMI’s strategic plan.
  • Build a structured major gifts program (five- and six-figure giving).
  • Grow annual appeals (EOFY and Christmas).
  • Develop corporate partnership pipeline.
  • Identify grant opportunities (foundations and trusts).
Major Donor Cultivation
  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects.
  • Prepare tailored proposals and briefing documents.
  • Coordinate donor meetings with CEO and Board.
  • Design stewardship programs to increase retention and upgrade giving.
Campaigns & Appeals
  • Lead planning and execution of annual campaigns.
  • Develop compelling case for support materials.
  • Oversee donor communications and impact reporting.
Events & Engagement
  • Leverage RMI events, exhibitions and lectures for donor cultivation.
  • Coordinate targeted donor dinners and private briefings.
  • Support CEO in high-level donor engagement strategy.
Systems & Governance
  • Maintain donor database integrity.
  • Track KPIs and provide monthly revenue reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with ACNC and fundraising regulations.
Key Selection Criteria:
Essential
  • 5+ years’ experience in fundraising, philanthropy or development.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts ($25k+).
  • Exceptional written communication skills (proposal writing essential).
  • Experience working with Boards or senior executives.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion.
Desirable
  • Experience in education, policy, or cultural institutions.
  • Understanding of Australian political and historical landscape.

Museum Attendant - Volunteer Position

Overview:
The Robert Menzies Institute is seeking a passionate and dedicated volunteer Museum Attendant to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting the everyday operations of our museum and enhancing our engagement with visitors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Guiding visitors around the Collection.
  • Opening and closing the museum.
  • Managing purchases from our bookstore.
  • Able to commit to a 4-hour shift once a week from 10am – 2pm.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • An interest in Australian political history.
  • A student currently working towards a qualification, looking to gain experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, teachers, and stakeholders.
  • Good time management.
